Derek Bernstein Artist&Photographer born in Johannesburg South Africa in 1964 .Began drawing at an early age in high school began drawing because of the sheer boredom drawings all over his school books.But he began his creative career as a photographer in 1991 and then later in 1997 began painting .While living in Brazil Sao Paulo in 2001 he began to paint in earnest.To date he has sold close on 75 artworks and 5 fine art photographs.His Journey as an artist is basically his journey in terms of self growth ,through this life .Mr Bernstein paints from the heart, whether it being impressionistic nude studies to abstracts ,to street photographs he feels his art is a reflection of his state at a particular time .He also is experimenting seeing art and photography as a serious healing tool -tapping into the collective consciousness and creating works that shift a persons reality for the better.He has a had an interesting life with a lot of Love,tradgedy ,humour, pathos ,offbeat encounters and metaphysical experiences this drives him as an artist drawing from all his experiences visions and dreams.He feels he hasn’t even touched on his true potential.He says 2010 will be a groundbreaking year for him, seeing as he was born on the 20/10/64 this seems to be on track with the universe.
